Do you have those pre-session nerves?

Let’s make sure that we go through our last minute checklist on what to do and whatnot to do the day before your boudoir session.

Every single woman wants to look her absolute best for her photo session and we provide all of the homework and tools to create the perfect plan for your unique session. Asif and Andrea, our photographers here at The Boudoir Studio, talk about the 9 silly things to remember the day before your boudoir session.

Following these not-so-obvious tips will ensure that no detail is missed, so that you are absolutely prepared for your big day!

  1. Clean Up Your Green Thumb Your fingernails and toenails will be in many of your photos. The day before your session is a great time to get a Mani and Pedi. For our natural girls, no need to get polished, just make sure you save plant-transplanting for another day.

2. Grooming Body Hair

This is a great reminder as we are slowly moving out of quarantine and into “no-shave November”. Don’t start your “no-shave” commitment until after your boudoir session! If it is the day before your boudoir session, this is not a great time to get a wax. It is a great time to shave the pits, legs, and bikini area! Make sure to go slowly to avoid cuts and moisturize well afterward.

3. Swap Your Wine for Water

We completely understand that you may have nerves the night before your session. Avoid alcohol the night before and drink water instead. We want to make sure you look your absolute best! Get a full night’s rest and take care of yourself the night before. If you think you’ll be too nervous for breakfast in the morning, bring a snack for your session or consider adding on our concierge service to pamper you for the session day.

4. No Artificial Tans

With the exception of women who are experienced with spray tans and self-tanning lotions, the day before your session is not the day to try these products and services out. If you are considering a spray tan for your session, we recommend having this done 3-5 days prior to your session. It is also important to arrive the day of your session with clean skin so that no tanning residue is left on the linens or furniture. Self tanning lotions can also leave unintended marks on the webbing of your fingers and palms. We promise you, your natural skin tone is beautiful just the way it is!

5. Cleanse your soles

You don’t need to make any confessions prior to your boudoir session, but let’s make sure the bottom of your feet are nice and clean. Refrain from wearing those perfectly worn-in Birkenstocks from highschool and opt for some socks instead. The bottom of your feet will most likely appear in some photos and can often be overlooked when grooming for your boudoir session.

6. Pack Your Bag

This one is for our procrastinating ladies. . . pack your bag now! Lay out all your outfits, make sure you have their matches, bring a few backups and you can thank us later! It’s important to have everything you need for the day of your session. Women often forget to pack important things like, deodorant, jewelry, or even their heels! You will already know what outfits to bring from your Zoom call with either Asif or Andrea prior to your session.

7. Elastic Is Not Our Friend

This one is especially important if you are planning on taking implied nude or nude photos. When you wear fabric that is tight to the skin, it leaves marks and indentations on your body. Wear loose fitting clothes, underwear, socks, etc, the night before and day of your boudoir session. If you could opt out of bra and undies for the morning, even better! Make sure to take that hair tie off your wrist too!

8. Hair Care

We have an amazing team of hair and makeup artists that help our clients look their best, right here, in the studio. We ask our clients to arrive at the studio with clean and dry hair. Wash and dry your hair the day before, don’t use any products as our glam squad has you covered! Most women opt for soft curls for their boudoir session.
