Photographer’s Top 5 Outfit ChoiceS

By: Asif and Andrea

So you’ve spent a ton of time thinking about booking your boudoir session . . . now, the next biggest question is:

“What should I wear for MY boudoir session?”

You are in luck, we asked our photographers at Boudoir Studios New York what their favorite outfits are for clients to wear. The good news is that there are outfits listed here to work for any body type . . . the bad news is that you will love every single one and it will be hard to pick your favorite! Let’s count down to the #1 outfit that is our studio team favorite!

#5 Fitted tank top with panties

This unassuming outfit can work for almost any client. Wearing a fitted tank top without a bra can reveal a lot while not exposing too much skin. Cheeky boy shorts or panties paired with a tank top can bring the focus to the booty shots which is often a client favorite. Looking for another “look” within this outfit? We can cut up the tank top to give it a ripped look or hike it up real high. “Just add water” and we can give this look a “wet t-shirt contest” feel. Or take the tank top off and use a sheet or the top to create an implied nude look too!

#4 Strappy top and matching bottoms

For a client envisioning an “edgier bold” look, a strappy outfit (be it a one-piece or two) might just be the right fit. There is a wide range of options from complete coverage to no coverage in an outfit like this. A strappy outfit is the perfect window to a woman’s body that arrests the viewer without presenting complete exposure. This outfit can also be really flattering to the curvature of your body. It is really important to not confuse this outfit with a stringy one. A stringy outfit is hardly flattering to any body type and the less the fabric, the heavier the body looks. YES to strappy, NO to stringy.

#3 Robe paired with bra & panty

This is a versatile outfit! With a robe, bra and panty set, you get “three-outfits-in-one,” resulting in several looks from this outfit. A robe over a bra and panty is gorgeous for clients who are want more coverage for their session. Taking the robe off gives our clients another “look,” with just a bra and panty. You can also create a third look by taking off the bra and leaving just the robe and panty on for a more implied nude look. You can’t go wrong with this option!

#2 A Bodysuit

Another favorite outfit of ours is a sheer bodysuit worn over a matching bra and panty set. This outfit is perfect for a look that is classy, yet really sexy and elegant. Like the previous outfit, this too, has the capacity for creating multiple looks. You can chose to wear it with or without the bra and panty set underneath to capture your daring side. Bodysuits are a wonderful option as the stretchy material is usually form-fitting and flatters the hourglass beautifully. The best options, in our opinion, are the ones with a high-cut leg opening as that help give the appearance of longer legs and a lifted bum. The ones with an open back are also very flattering and photograph really well. Not all bodysuits are sheer, nor do they have to be, we are just using sheer as a good example for its versatility when combined with a bra and panty set. We recommend a bodysuit to every single one of our clients as it is an outfit that flatters almost any body shape or size.

#1 Lacey teddy

This is hands-down, our team’s absolute favorite outfit for our clients to wear for their boudoir sessions! This outfit works on most body types and is a flattering choice to accentuate your figure. It hides the tummy and creates a no-fuss outfit that works well in all of our poses. Some lace teddies have built-in cups and provide a little more support which gives a really flattering look. Others come with built-in garter straps giving you the option to attach thigh-highs to it. However, even if you chose not to pair it with stockings, the hanging straps add an element of interest to the whole look. Lacey teddies are flattering, sexy, classy, and an all-around great choice for your boudoir photo session!
