Becoming a mother is an incredible and beautiful feat. However, it is no secret that women’s bodies are left forever changed. We have our tiger stripes, loose skin, torn muscle, scars and it can be so hard to love our vessels after what we’ve been through. And if I am being honest. . . a lot of us would really rather downplay the mum-tum, especially for sexy boudoir photos. We’ve compiled a list of 13 different ways you can take sexy photos without your tummy being the center of attention.

1. Arch Your Back

Just because you may have some loose skin and dare I say. . . have “the mom pooch,” doesn’t mean that your stomach needs to be hidden away for your boudoir photos. By simply arching your back and stretching out your stomach you can slim your core without doing 100 crunches.

2. Show Off Your Legs

There are many parts of a woman’s body that are slender yet curvacious. Highlighting those areas draw the viewer into your best assets while hiding areas of insecurities. Focusing on your legs is a great way to reveal a lot, but leave so much more to be desired. Bending a knee to expertly cover your tummy is a natural way to show off your best features.

3. Emphasize Your Back

Having your back to the camera is a fun way to bring attention to your tush, all while showing off the curves of your body. No one is looking for your belly when there is so much to see on your backside. Playing with light and shadows can create an extra appreciation for the beauty of your behind.

4. Sit On Your Knees

Sitting on your knees allows you to extend your core and engage the muscles of your legs to create a fun and flirty pose that can downplay your stomach. Whether this is shot from the front or the back, your perfect posture will create a slender appearance while engaging your viewer into areas that you desire them to see.

5. Focus On Your Face

So many women would remark that their eyes, smile, dimples, or hair are one of their favorite features. It would make perfect sense to focus on your expressions. Eye contact, or lack-thereof, can convey so many sensual emotions. Boudoir is not just about photographing body parts. Your facial expressions have so much effect on the viewer. Take the close up portraits!

6. Fall Off The Edge

Sliding off the edge of a bed or a chair is an excellent way to create a sexy photo. Having to stretch your core around the edge of a bed creates a slenderizing effect. This pose along with the breathing technique of sucking your belly button to your spine will be sure to help smooth out the pooch.

7. Lay On Your Stomach

What better way to hide your tummy other than to lay on it? Although this may appear as an easy pose, accentuating your natural curves will have you pushing your tush out and arching your back. A classic way to hide some trouble areas and highlight your beautiful face, tush, back, and legs.

8. Stretch out

Enhancing the length of your body will help slenderize your tummy. This starts from the tips of your toes, the top of your head, and sometimes through your fingertips. Twisting, arching, and elongating your core will help minimize the loose skin in your midsection and portray your body as a long landscape for the viewer to see.

9. Lay On Your Back

Laying on your back and working with gravity helps hide the mum-tum, especially when you dig your tush into the bed or floor and arch your back. A perfectly positioned leg can hide an area of insecurity while creating an alluring image.

10. Outfit Choice

When in doubt, cover it up. Although it may be counter-intuitive to wear an oversized shirt or a flowing robe to your session, your outfit choice can make or break your final photos. Choose an outfit that YOU feel confident and good in. Don’t be afraid to bring a cover-up as it can be pinned and pulled strategically to create a gorgeous photo.

11. High Vantage Point

Having the camera at a high vantage point forces you to look up to the camera. Not only can your tummy be almost completely hidden in this kind of pose, your gorgeous face will be the first thing that catches your special someone’s attention. . . but not the only thing.

12. Prop Choice

A well-thought-out placement of a prop can easily cover your tummy. If you are planning to gift boudoir photos to a special someone, incorporating one of their hobbies is a great way to make your session extra special. Bring a guitar, favorite sports team memorabilia, or incorporate some of your hobbies into your session. There are so many possibilities.

13. Curl Yourself Up

Even though you know that your rolls may still be there, being curled up can still cover your tummy from your photographer’s point of view. Hold your knees to your chest, or use your arms to hide your mum tum all while creating a beautiful portrait.
