Roc Boudie Event Follow Up

Roc Boudie Event Follow Up

By Jill

This past weekend we were at a beautiful historic loft located in Macedon, NY. This was our very first event where Asif and Andrea had a boudoir marathon! They were working back to back and I was ecstatic to be a part of this event so I could get to know more women who are part of our #rocboudietribe!

I have heard of this location, seen the photos but Sunday was the first time I actually got to see it with my own eyes. As soon as you walk into the venue, you get goosebumps. The ceilings must be 20 feet tall, the charm of this restored landmark matches the energy that Asif, Andrea, and our hair/makeup team create. Energizing music bounces off walls and hit you right in the chest. Our first Boudie Babe sits upon her hair and makeup throne as both Tiffany and Becky work on her to accentuate her natural beauty.

When I was an assistant for Asif, I loved talking to clients before their session to help ease the nerves and get to know them better. It was so nice to have the opportunity to do this again at this event! I asked our first Boudie Babe:

Q - Are you doing this session for any one in particular or is it just for you?

It's for my 40th birthday. . . my birthday was almost a year ago! I talked myself out of it the first time!

Q - What made you change your mind?

I have a friend who did it. And she told me “OH. MY. GOD. you absolutely have to do it.”

Q - Was there anything in particular that made you just want to do it?

Well, we all have a weird relationship with our bodies, you know? You feel like you need to do “this” or you need to do “that” before you feel like you are actually ready. But I really want just a big picture in my bedroom. I am really motivated to do this, not everyone has an interest or can be brave enough to accept themselves.

Maybe it is a foreign concept, but some of our clients are repeat customers! Our own photographer, Andrea, is a 4x repeating client (she blogs about her experience here).

One of our Boudie Babes at this event was a second-time client! So you know I just had to ask:

Q - What made you decide to come back for more?

I just love it! Who wouldn’t? You get to be all dressed up and feel beautiful!

When you think of boudoir photography, most people think of gifts for the special man in their lives. One Boudie Babe had to sneak out of the house so she could be with us that day! And listen. . . we can totally help you with ideas on how to surprise your man with the gift he really wants.

Q - How are you feeling right now?

I have no idea what I am getting into. I have never done anything like this before. I am nervous but excited. I have heard that it’s really fun.

Q - How did you hear about us?

One of my friends did a shoot with you guys like a year or so ago. I kept thinking… I want to do this, I really want to do this. I had to get myself hyped up enough.

Q - Are you doing this for yourself or for someone special?

I’m doing this for my husband. He does not know that I am here doing this I really wanted to surprise him.

Q - Was there a deciding factor that made you think “ok I’m going to book a session”?

I did a 30-day diet and I ended up losing some weight so it seemed like the perfect timing.

I was surprised that so many women that came to our event were taking these photos for themselves! This last Boudie Babe used her boudoir session as a way to celebrate an incredible weight loss. In my opinion, boudoir photography is the best way to love and celebrate your body!

Q - So was there anything that made you pull the trigger and decide to be here with us today?

It's actually really funny because I always wanted to do this but when I had gotten married, everything happened so fast and it wasn't in the budget. Then the wedding was here plus I was 100 lbs heavier than I am now. So I never ended up doing it. Eventually, I ended up losing all the weight and thought “Oh I should do it, I should do it! Just pull the trigger and do it! Spend the money!” A few weeks ago I was out to lunch with one of my girlfriends and I got the email for this event. And I thought, “I am doing it! This is fate!” So I am here and I am so excited!

If you are like many of our clients who needed the extra time to get themselves hyped up, waiting for a special occasion, trying to lose the weight or boost your confidence we are here when you are ready. Speaking from experience, there never seems to be “the right time” for these kinds of things so hopefully, we will see you at our next Roc Boudie Event!

Stay tuned for more photos. . .
